About Shotokatto

In Japan, ショートカット (Shōtokatto) usually refers to a short haircut. However, the tech sector (in particular, Apple) figured that it is best to do a phonetic translation of its Shortcuts app. It will help put English users and Japanese users on the same page. After all, ice cream in Japanese is アイスクリーム (Aisukurīmu) and taxi in Japanese is タクシー (Takushī).

It is with that pragmatic spirit that this website came to be. The goal of this website is to help document “shortcuts” in life. There are three main categories that posts will be classified under:

  • Fastest - Time is limited. Speed is important.
  • Cheapest - Quality is standardized. In that case, go for the best price.
  • Best - Perhaps either being fast or cheap does not make sense. In that case, there is an optimal method.

In all of these cases, there is one overarching mantra - don’t be perfect.
